Two conversations about writing, publishing and the stories behind my novels

The last few weeks have been so busy with the practical side of becoming an independent author that I have almost forgotten about why I am doing all this:
The books themselves.
It’s been lovely to have so much support and positive feedback on my books, with people telling me they read late into the night and finished my book in two sittings.
And for a suspense writer like me, there’s no better feedback than that.

Writing Community that Keeps Us Going
I am so lucky to be a part of the vibrant community of writers we have, both online and in person. These days, there are so many opportunities to connect with people who share our love of literature, whether they are on the other side of the world or in the next suburb.
I have been honoured to be interviewed by some of the champions of Australian literature who promote our local authors. They are writers themselves with busy lives, and they make time to celebrate their fellow writers.
Kelly of Kelly’s Writerly Q & A and Australian Book Lovers have interviewed me about both of my novels, so I thought I’d bring those conversations together in one place.

Kelly’s Writerly Q&A
Kelly Sgroi and I have been critique partners for several years and have shared all the highs and lows that the writing life can bring. Kelly is a talented writer and host of the podcast Kelly’s Writerly Q&A, which promotes the work of both established and emerging authors.
I caught up with Kelly earlier this year when she interviewed me for my latest novel, Before She Killed Him, for her podcast. Kelly asks great questions about both the story and the writing process, and our chat continued long after the interview ended.
This wasn’t our first conversation about my books. In 2023, she interviewed me about my debut novel, Far From Harm, you can read about it here.
It was so special to have her feature my books on her platforms. She’s been there throughout my writing journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for her support.

Australian Book Lovers
Australian Book Lovers is dedicated to promoting Australian literature and bringing you your next great Aussie read. They feature both traditional and independent authors across all genres and showcase their work on their website, podcast, and YouTube channel.
I am thrilled to have my books featured on their website, amongst so many great Aussie authors.
It was a delight to be interviewed by author and podcast host, Laurie Bell, for Before She Killed Him. Laurie nearly got me into trouble when she asked about my inspiration for the story. I think I got out of it OK. After all, you can’t go to prison for just thinking about murder, can you?
In the meantime, a girl can dream….
I was interviewed by founder and author Veronica Strachan in 2023 for Far From Harm. Veronica put me at ease as a nervous debut author, and being featured on her website and podcast was a real boon in the lead-up to my book launch. You can listen to the interview here.

After spending so much time talking about getting my books back into the world, it was wonderful to talk about the stories themselves. If you’d like to know more about my books, my writing process, or what I’m working on next, you can find out more on blog.
