Writing Updates, Events, Book Reviews
Ok, so I've gone and done it. I've somehow managed to start an email newsletter. It's only going to be quarterly, because let's face it, I'm not that interesting. Why else do you think I make up stories?
Below is a little taste of what you can expect in your inbox, so if it takes your fancy, let me know and I'll figure out how to send it to you. Like everything else in this crazy writing journey so far, it's going to be a learning curve.
Work in Progress
This year, I have been working on my second novel, following my debut in July 2023 with Far From Harm. Book Two is also a contemporary domestic suspense, this time set in urban Melbourne and features a reformed bad girl whose impulsive behaviour has landed her in some seriously life ruining trouble. With the novel complete, I have just finished the latest round of edits and will give it one more pass before handing it over to my lucky beta reader for feedback.
Events
My author friends have been hard at work, and this year I have attended the book launches of Anne Freeman for Me That You See, Kylie Orr for The Eleventh Floor and debut author, Trish Bolton. for Whenever You're Ready. They are all outstanding novels I highly recommend, and you can read my reviews here.
Current Reads
I like to keep up with new releases from both big five and indie publishers alike, but lately, I have been going back to the classics. Recently, I reread the Greek tragedy, Madea by Euripides and after watching Feud on one of the steaming services, I listened to In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. While both authors vary greatly in style, they delve into human nature at its darkest, and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
